Friday, August 22, 2008

The University of Evansville is among the "Best Values" in education!

According to the annual U.S.News & World Report "Best Colleges" issue, the University of Evansville is the #3 "Best Value" among Master’s-granting universities in the Midwest. The ranking is an indication of UE’s academic quality, reputation, and reasonable cost of attendance.

"At the University of Evansville, we strive to offer our students the best education possible, at a price they can afford," said UE President Stephen Jennings. "Being named a ‘Best Value’ among Master’s-granting institutions in the Midwest is something we’re tremendously proud of, because it indicates that our students truly are receiving a top-tier education without creating financial hardships in these difficult economic times."

Only Creighton University and Valparaiso University ranked ahead of UE on the "Best Value" list.

UE also landed in the top tier of Master’s-granting universities in the region in terms of overall education, at 11th. Universities like Creighton, Valparaiso, Xavier University, and John Carroll University also joined UE among the top tier.

UE’s ranking of 11th was among a total of 137 universities from 12 states, all of which provide a full range of undergraduate and Master’s degree programs.

"This is just one of the many indicators confirming our success in maintaining the highest academic quality at the University of Evansville," Jennings said.

Selection on the U.S.News & World Report list is based upon six key measures of academic quality. Included among those measures are assessment by administrators at peer institutions, student graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving.

The rankings are designed to help prospective students and parents evaluate their college choices. The listings include more than 1,400 accredited four-year schools.

The "Best Colleges" rankings are available online today at www.usnews.com/colleges, and will be published in the U.S.News & World Report’s September 1 issue, available on newsstands Monday, August 25.
