Civil Engineering Student Makes MVC Scholar-Athlete Team
Three repeat first-team selections highlight the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete First Team, announced by the league office today. A total of six student-athletes earned first-team scholar-athlete honors, and an additional three earned honorable-mention status. Chris Bouchard of Evansville, Derek Bohlen of Northern Iowa and Matt Kouri of Creighton are repeat selections to the league's first team. Bouchard, a senior with a 3.32 cumulative grade point average in civil engineering, is a three-time first-team all-Valley pick. The trio is joined on the first team by Illinois State's Ryan Brown, Southern Illinois' Andrew Gwinup, and Evansville's Matt Hunsaker. Bouchard finished his career with a 76.41 average, the second best career average at UE since 1990. He shot 7-under-par 64 on March 8 at the Treasure Coast Classic, setting UE records for lowest 18-hole score and most strokes below par. Hunsaker was Evansville's leader at last month's State Farm MVC Tournament, shooting 225 for 54 holes to finish 16th in a field of 45. His 75.17 scoring average in 30 rounds was UE's third best in 2006-07. |
