SAE Formula Car Competing at Area Races
June 12, 2006

The University of Evansville SAE Formula car, built for the annual International SAE Formula Car competition in May, has been hitting the pavement in local arenas lately, most recently last Sunday at the Owensboro Airport in a Sports Car Club of America race.

At the SAE Formula Car Competition, the team moved up 50 places over last year’s score – this year coming in at 76th out of nearly 125 teams from around the world.

The students took first place in Owensboro last Sunday and the previous weekend in the SCCA autocross event at Heritage Hills High School. In both races, the team had approximately the 7th fastest time of the day against all the cars competing.
