Concrete Canoe Finishes Sixth at Nationals
The University of Evansville ASCE Student Chapter concluded months of hard work last weekend with a sixth place overall finish and a third place in final product at the 18th annual American Society of Civil Engineers National Concrete Canoe competition in Clemson, South Carolina. The team’s final ranking was determined by their scores in oral presentations, actual design and final presentation of the concrete canoe, and the canoe races. More than 200 teams competed for the honor of being selected to attend the national competition. UE was one of the 21 teams selected. The UE boat was named "Lembus Durus" and was 20 feet long, weighing 177 pounds.
