ME Grad Valerie Stringer Awarded 2005 Williston Medal
Valerie Stringer, a 2005 Mechanical Engineering graduate, has been awarded the 2005 Arthur L. Williston Medal for her paper, "Recovering and Rebuilding: How Engineers Have Faced Several Tragedies of the Late 20th Century." The Williston competition is a national writing contest sponsored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and honors the student who submits the best paper in the area of civic service. The award consists of a $1000 honorarium, a bronze medal, a certificate, and travel expenses to receive the award at the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition to be held November 5-11 in Orlando, FL. 2005 marks the second consecutive year that a University of Evansville mechanical engineering student has won this national award. Marie Hoffman, ME Class of 2004, was that year's Williston Award recipient. |
